If you think of space…..
I see myself as a visual artist working with layers, both physically in the way I use materials, and also metaphysically. I like the way our minds can be lured into making assumptions based on very little. I use ink, acetate prints, and film to pursue an ongoing analytical exploration of ‘space’. At the moment I am occupied with the diverse meanings or understandings of the phrase ‘negotiating space’. Specifically I am focusing on how remembrance compresses both time and space creating a new ‘reality’.
As I construct drawings and installations, the relationship between object, viewer, and place/space is at the forefront of my mind. I believe that any meaning derived from an artwork is generated within this dynamic, an experience unique to each individual.
Collaboration is a part of my practice that has developed out of my exploration of negotiating spaces . It is an encounter where the end result is so often more than the sum of its parts.
