As a multi-disciplinary conceptual artist Eva uses a diverse range of materials and media dependent on her current project/idea/concept. She believes that this form of practice allows her to keep her work varied; moving between 2D, 3D, installation and performance. Eva’s work is often placed within a social, political or cultural context and is firmly process and material led.
Her current paintings reference social and political issues related to European diaspora in which she examines the notion of cultural and national identity, alluding to ideas on acculturation; duality; and hybridity.
Eva graduated from Bradford College of Art in 2005 and subsequently completed a Post-Compulsory Education and Training course at Huddersfield University in 2006 after which she took up a teaching position at Leeds College of Art and Design.
During 2006/7 Eva became Artist in Residence at Leeds College of Art and Design under the AA2A (Artists Access to Art College) scheme and in 2007 was awarded the Esmée Fairburn Foundation Emerging Artist Bursary Exhibition Award for her first solo exhibition - “Worstedopolis”. She was also awarded “Best Newcomer” at the Leeds Art Fair 2007.
In 200708 Eva set up McM Productions with fellow art performance collaborator, Hatti McKenzie, to promote their joint art performance/installation practice which started with “B.L.O.T.” Lab, as part of the RGB Exhibition, South Square Gallery, Thornton. This successful performance was followed by “L.I.F.T.” (Leeds Intimate Film Theatre) as part of Leeds Light Night 2008.
